Men's I Jack Thomas Stats Big News

Welcome to our brand new blog!! This is where you'll be able to keep up with our latest news and game reports throughout our promotion campaigns. For a snippet of things to come, see part of one of our Men's 1st Team match reports from last season (January 27th 2016):

"The final Wednesday of January saw the Men's Basketball 1st team take to Main Hall to face top of the league University of Birmingham 1sts. This fantastic encounter ended in a nail-biting 2 point win for the home side, and this win means we have beaten every team in the league and have been unbeaten in all competitions since the first game of the season.

The game was neck and neck throughout the first 3 quarters, with each team trading scores and neither managing to pull away. With just around 10 seconds left in the 4th quarter, the well drilled and organised Birmingham side came down the floor trailing 56 - 59. After a few quick passes and good ball rotation, they came up with the goods and their best player on the day, a speedy small forward, scored a 3 pointer to the dismay of the packed balcony. A composed Coach Raddon called a timeout to assemble his troops for the last play of the game. With less than 10 seconds left on the clock and the scores tied something clever and quick was needed, the responsibility fell to Lithuanian fresher Taurus to come off a big screen from Matteo and hit a highly contested 2 pointer with 4.3 seconds left. The game was not won yet though, but with some excellent full court defence in the dying seconds Warwick secured the 61-59 victory, their best and most important win of the season so far.

Top scorers: Shaq Amon-Ra (17), Taurus Rutkauskas (16), Phil Reeder (13)
Top rebounders: Matteo Contino (9), Taurus Rutkauskas (7)"

Stay tuned and watch this space for updates as the season progresses!
